Vin de Pays d'Oc
Formerly called vin de pays d'Oc, this regional vin de pays IGP since 2009, is part of a region in France that produces the most vin de pays. The vineyard, between mountains, valleys and oceans, with very diverse soils, covers more than half of Languedoc wine production.
The Pays Minervois, the Massif des Corbières, the Pays roussillonais, the Camargue, the Rhône Valley, are geographical locations that have become very touristic, thanks to their castles, forests, scrubland and mountains, as well as an attractive Mediterranean climate for tourists. The lands of the Pays d'Oc represent more than 60% of French country wine production, with 5.3 million hectoliters produced in 2009. Between the Cévennes, the Languedoc plain and the Corbières massif, these are clay-limestone, schist and stony sand soils giving varied and complex aromas.
Carignan, cinsault, shiraz, vsabernet-sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, merlot et petit verdot are present in the southern part of the country, supplemented by Provençal grape varieties vinified in the traditional way. These are drinkable red wines, whose very fruity aromas are the praises of an ancient and fabulous country. The rosés and whites convey values of sharing and know-how with a reasoned and specialized grape variety, in particular with the rosé Gris de Gris.
